What is wrong with E-Logs? I would think that it makes recording your hours of service and other activities a lot easier, and much less of a task. I am NOT a truck driver. I do hope to eventually become one.

Most people to keep false logs to earn more money. It's stupid to me because most loads have an appointment time.
-
this is true with "general freight" but there are other loads that do not, reley on appointments. Were being "flexable" is a must

There is nothing wrong with Elogs. There is nothing wrong with paper logs. In my opinion it's just personal preference. They are neither one harder or easier than the other. And regardless of what some drivers will have you believe, the log laws are the log laws, and are the exact same no matter what method of reporting you use. But, I do not believe the govt should mandate Elogs. That should be totally a company's business decision. Anything the govt mandates gets messed up pretty quickly.OccamsRazor, otherhalftw and volvodriver01 Thank this.

I just started e logs for the first time a few months ago. Im an O/O and I was worried it would hurt my bottom line. Turns out my worries were for nothing. I like them, its a lot easier. It can screw you once in a while trying to get somewhere, but it is rare. Also can be a pain if you hit a traffic jam or an accident back up.

Mandated E-logs have no business being forced upon us. Plain and simple. Oh and there is no way someone running E-logs can make more money than paper unless you weren't working while on paper.
.
apyles Thanks this. -
This one of the best comments I've seen regarding elogs. You've used both, seen that there is nothing really to fear with either and you just prefer one over the other and thus will seek out companies which allow use of your preferred method for as long as possible. I wish more drivers would follow your example.

I rather enjoy the electronic logs. I don't ever get 15 or 20 minutes down the road and realize I forgot to change my duty status. Paperwork at the end of the day only involves a vcr, and most of the time if a weigh station is checking logbooks, I get waved right by.
I've heard some guys say they get calls and/or messages if they aren't moving when their 10 hr break is up and that their company adjusts their logs to make them have hours. Fortunately I work for a company that realizes I am an adult and do not need a babysitter. -
E Logs are terrific. Especially if you have bad handwriting, and don't always remember to update you change of duty status. Should make 60g's this year on E logs. I'd rather be on E logs then with a company who is anal about having everything up to par on paper logs. Now if they have some Lose leaf
Hmmmmm. Anyway Lovem and hope they are here to stay. They are Grrrrrrrrrrrreat
