Had a 12.7 S 60 Detroit in a 98 379... motor was Bilt to the Hilt. Never seen a shop, never seen tail lights. Fuel sipper.
Next was a 05 dual snail Acert Kitty. It was a runner, no major issues. However, even after a tune, overhead and making the intake/exhaust a little tighter it still didn't perform the way I'd like... and it burned through fuel faster than the ol lady burns thru cash.
Currently in a EPA10 ISX15 500+ 6.7mpg average pulling heavy hammer down. Overall happy with it. It's been thru a few turbos and more than a handful of sensors. Came apart at 565,xxx. You dont wanna know how much the inframe cost.

I had a 98 Peterbilt 379 with 430/470 detroit. 3.90 rears. Wasn't geared to go fast, but it outpulled about everything on a hill. I kinda like low geared trucks. I don't go fast anyway. I could put that truck in top gear and usually leave it there. I could pull down to 47 mph before down shifting. I spent awhile running cross country with 20k loads. I thought the country was flat. Didn't down shift until it was time to exit. I miss that old truck. Kinda wish I had kept it. Sold it for $20k with 656k miles on it. I thought I needed a new truck.

Well, when I wedged a piston sideways in the block and grenaded a sleeve in the process, it cost me $23,xxx for a ReMack engine. If it had held out another 3 weeks (when I had it scheduled for an overhaul), I had been quoted about half that. Oh well...gotta pay to play.
Tropsnart Thanks this. -
