I have a taste for the 500 Detroits on a 13 double under. It's a good match to it's lugging mountain properties.

I am inclined to get all young again over the Kitty Cats. When done right, a big kitty is a nice kitty, yes it is...

Cummins? Well, I think it wants to run one RPM at 55 mph or soemthing, hit the slightest upgrade and you fall down two gears. It has no beef to back itself up, kind of like a man pulling oxygen to pink up long enough to climb the next half flight of stairs. Ive flogged them way back in the big cam days and prefer not to even look at them.

Mack 350's you cannot break em. In fact you could and did take em to 3200 rpm sometimes with the understanding that the main bearings are at extreme risk here. Diamond T, Autocars, Marions, Petes and so on come from another time and I would like to go back in time to have them again.

GMC is a giant turbo screech into your head. You don't want that in a old style Astro Cabover.

Ive been hearing MAN 1200's coming into the new series Leopard tanks on you tube video and they sound really good. I wish the industry will stop fooking about with #### horse engines and invest in something truly big. A dab will do you all the way up the worst mountain in those kinds of engine capabilities.

My favorite engine I ever drove was a 98 N14 with 500. Hated the truck (Century Class), but the engine was amazing. Geared to climb hills out west and it sure as hell did.

This last Freightshaker... SMH. DD15 with 455. Shook like I was driving on a rumble strip while standing still. Best I could get out of it was a solid 6mpg. But... on the plus side, it had 955k miles and not rebuilt. So it was a tough beast.

Pulls great and good fuel mileage if you're easy on the go pedal.
