Ya I always have a paper log going.

I was hauling dairy and meat in the reefer but we also haul dry van and sand. The exemption wouldn't be from the load

I drive an 01 Classic with 5EK Cat 3406. It's exempt, or so they say.
They're building Gliders with Pre-2000 engines to bypass the Mandate. But, you have to know
    this is only short term.

I think I just found the exemption he's talking about. It states that until April 1st a driver using paper will receive a citation but the truck will not be placed OOS and the carrier won't be effected.

Basically I get in trouble but he wont. Screw that

Haha!! That’s not an exemption, that’s a grace period of sorts.

Bottom line is your responsible for your driving call up the local law enforcement and ask them what would happen if you got pulled over i'm sure they'd only be to happy to explain to you the situation and give you the right advice as to what course to take, i'm just wondering why you'd be afraid to approach your boss is he some kind of dictator or something? Although you used the word "confront" perhaps your better off just using sound reasoning most people usually get it with the right logic. Say something like hey boss how would you feel if i got a big fine for having no elog? Or worse how would you feel if the company got a fine?

I already called the state police and they weren't sure. They gave me the number for the commercial vehicle division but they're only open mon-fri.

I just called my boss and he basically told me I don't know what I'm talking about and that he will pull my loads even though he has no hours. No way I'm going to break the law for him. I know I'm responsible for myself and my truck. Guess it's time to find a new job huh?

Thanks for all the help everyone.

I wouldn't say he's a dictator but hes a know it all with anger issues. I expected him to disregard what I tell him and get pissed which is exactly what he did.
