Hello. Any of you had a problem with exhaust leak on the picture? Cummins X15 engine. It mainly leaks when I am slowing down. I do some work by myself on the truck but this is something I have never dealt with. Truck is working fine no check engine light on but I would love to fix this leak. It makes hissing sound when slowing down.
Looks like it might be just a clamp but I tried tightening it and it didn’t work. Can this be pulled out easily to check what the problem is? Thnx in advance.

No idea what I'm looking at but I would say it looks like a slip joint seal and probably has a piston ring style seal in there. If it does, you'll have to pull the joint apart to replace the ring(s) and in all likelihood will probably just keep leaking.

Exhaust manifold to EGR cooler connector. They all leak and yes very common. Reseal the entire exhaust manifold and replace the connector with new and all new gaskets.
The connectors use the same metal J seals as the exhaust manifold sections. You can replace just the seals but the tooling is expensive for 1 time and the cast parts wear as well.blairandgretchen, Oxbow, Diesel Dave and 2 others Thank this. -

Cummins QuickServe Online
You can look up parts at the link above. I think you can still get 1 try for free. Just enter your ESN.
Otherwise any Cummins distributor or dealer should have them on hand.Oxbow Thanks this. -
We had some of these replaced under the emissions warranty, they change them back to the bellows type set up. Any time we have the exhaust manifold off we change them back to the bellows cause you know they will start leaking.
