I made the lady cry at one of my exit interviews. Not because I was mean but she wrote down a massive list of why I was quitting and she knew she was in over her head and couldn’t help us because the company was trash. She was the hr lady, she was so stressed she started crying. I felt bad for her because she knew she was losing 50% of her drivers that week.
I've had one that wanted to an exit interview. Me: how much does it pay? Them: nothing Me : exactly , cya.
You've got that right, which is why I've turned down quite a few, what would be considered "good jobs" by most "normal" folks recently. If it's too corporate and I've got to jump through hoops and sing kumbabya etc, I'm not interested. But that's just me and my preference. I've talked to companies where the FURTHEST thing from their mind was how good of a driver I am, which baffled me. They spent most of the time during the interview, reciting company bs than focusing on the actual job in question it seemed. I know it's 2018 and corporate rules the land for many companies, but what happened to going in, talking to the man in charge, taking a driving test to prove your skill set, running you're MVR, taking a piss test, discussing pay and then getting to work? The amount of bs hurdles you have to jump over just to get to your actual FIRST DAY with anything but a mom and pop company is out of this world. I recently was called by a local company that got wind I was looking for work at the time, and I figured I'd entertain the idea. Went it, talked with the hiring manager, yada yada yada, got the details and whatnot, and was then asked to fill out a paper application. I said "sure" once I was done with that, they proceeded to hand me this 150 question "personality test" that just oozed corporate nonsense. I quickly declined and walked out. If you can't sit and talk to a prospective employee for 30 minutes or more, and get a pretty good idea if they're going to "get along with the team" and be a "good fit" then I don't know what to tell you. I'm not taking personality exams and other comparable non sense to drive a #### truck up and down the road and make deliveries. The list goes on, but the more the corporate world and suit wearing morons get involved, the less I'm interested which is fine, because there's 15 people behind me that will smile and take whatever the company dishes out, and that's cool too. As they say, different strokes......
I hope you comforted her and told her to get her resume out there because she deserved a better job as well. That's what I'd have done.
They apparently do exit interviews at my company, but they are pretty few and far between. It’s a sit down with the CEO and other executives. They definitely try to keep people here and it shows. They just raised pay quite a bit. Anyone who was thinking of leaving ended up staying. Really not many people here quit. It’s less than a 20% turnover. I’d say probably closer to 10%. They definitely do care if someone is leaving. Feel pretty lucky to be here, just reading this thread lol
She did quit. The new hr lady called me and left a voicemail asking me to come back last week. Two years after I quit lol.
