Swift doesn't require an agility test though you do have to get a health exam in orientation. I'm fat and passed. Not a bad place to start, I work for them on a local gig now.

Don't worry, you can always go to one of those camps for rich fat kids. Bob Odenkirk did a skit about them on mr show.

Carriers are crying for drivers and paying good money to churn them out of CDL schools, so it seems to defy common sense that they would purposely make it difficult to hire drivers if the agility wasn't a job requirement.
There is some agility required to climb under the truck and manoeuvre in tight spaces under the hood while doing a pre/post trip, and if you must be in/out of the trailer to out in a load bar or strap it's imperative that your knees can withstand the stress of hopping in and out. There are plenty of fat people who have the stamina to run a pallet jack and plenty of thin people who don't.
Besides, the agility test (if any) might teach you something about yourself: perhaps you are better suited to one type of work over another or perhaps you are far fitter for a job than you initially realized! The more you know, the better off you'll be!Rideandrepair Thanks this. -

The only rule I can remember from the DOT regulations book is that you needed to be able to get a fist between you and your steering wheel, even if you had to inhale and get small.
There are no such physical tests for hire. But when presented with 45000 pounds of boxes to move, each one 100 pounds on the floor for say a meat load... 550+ total, get to it.
You will find certain companies do physical tests in the interview, basically small stuff like table work underneath like a duck or a heavy filled bucket over your head and other things, but it's not common.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
