Hey all, I am a FedEx freight part time dockworker and recently put in for a road driver position and got an offer. I e signed everything and just waiting now. Any one have any experience with being hired from within the company? I am trying to figure out how long the process generally takes for the process, background check etc. Thanks

I transferred from a part time dock worker at a small center to a apprentice spot at a hub. And it took 4-6 weeks cant remember exactly been about 4 years.

Gotcha. Lol I guess it’s not any faster than being a stranger off the street it sounds like. I figured since I had a cdl and the experience, maybe it would go faster.

Unfortunately FedEx has zero problems dicking around with the hiring process. If they really need help bad it may speed up the process.

Lol doesn’t suprise me. This little accurate cs company is already getting on my nerves. I don’t know if I’ll get a final offer since I have an accident on me. I told my terminal manager prior to the interview and he said it shouldn’t be a big deal and offered me the job, but I guess I’ll find out if he can hire me soon enough. ‍♂️

FedEx gets a bad rap, seemingly in every mishap and I don't think that's true. I think there are just so many FedEx trucks, bound to catch a few. For the most part, millions of packages get to where they need to be. If it's a linehaul, it's worth waiting for, P&D, not so much. You'll probably do dock work doing local P&D anyway. Whatever you do, don't bail on FedEx altogether, in the future, there will be like 4 freight outfits, and FedEx will be one of them. Hang in there.

Ugh, apparently you aren't familiar with sarcasm. I happen to love it. I said that, because in the future, I truly believe, you won't see dozens of trucking companies. They will either fold, or be taken over by the govt. and only certain companies will survive. Big companies. Brick and mortar stores will dry up, they are now, and EVERYTHING will be package delivery. Our "delivery system" for goods in this country is over 100 years old, and horribly out of date. We simply can't have unqualified drivers running into things with their measly 22 pallets of something,, and a "road train" of sorts, on their own roads to a central location, and smaller trucks take it to customers,,just like in the 30's, will be the next thing and FedEx will be one of those companies remaining,,,I bet.
