It was around the 95 mm sb on the WV turnpike. Said the driver swerved at the last minute and the trailer slid around and struck the worker who was on foot.

10-4, appreciate the update. I was busy getting permits lined up so didn’t search for any info about it…

This makes me ill. I hate FedRex (looks like a "contractor") and that area most of the trucks drive like reckless morons. PA is one state that claims minimum mandatory prison sentences for killing a worker. I'd be very curious to see if they follow throughout with that here.

That driver was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter.

Sign says No Trucks Right Lane but that doesn't apply to these fellows. Nobody tells them what to do or how to do it.

Not defending the FedEx driver here but some things don't add up. Article states: "Two workers were inside the construction vehicle at the time, PennDOT said."
"Both individuals were transported to the hospital, where one of the workers was pronounced dead upon arrival, according to state police." So, no one was picking up cones. Have to wonder if the lights or flashers were on in the Ford, how many cones were behind the vehicle? Was there a lighted arrow sign to stay out of the right lane? Article also states: "A FedEx double tractor-trailer was driving in the left lane when it entered the closed right lane and struck the back of the construction vehicle, according to a recent report." I doubt that as the Ford is in the left lane near the jersey wall facing forward in the direction of travel for that side of the road. If the Ford was in the right lane and hit in the rear I can't see it ending up straight ahead in the left lane.

The thing about journalists is, they try to get the main facts close to what happened and fill in the details with whatever seems to be sensational. Half the time the headlines don’t even add up with the stories anymore.

And the cab is not badly damaged. It probably was the workers in the bed who were the casualties.
