I know the big boys can bid low, but this is getting crazy. Must be trying to get rid of owner operators.

of course they are. Always have been. ANy companies main goal is to expand which ultimatly means mare consolidation and larger companies.

I know a guy who thinks they all need to find ice picks in there tires. not that I condone such a thing personally

Owner operators are usually smart but some just aren't thinking when hauling for some of these rates. It's nothing new to have bad rates, but for this long is unusual. There's also been truckers who will undercut you but not this many. Strange times.

Well, you can always look at it this way. The fools taking these loads are probably losing money. You may be sitting, not making money, or losing very little, but no where near as much as they probably are. Sucks, but it's all about perspective.

Yes, In January there were no hopper loads. Now there are loads but dirt cheap. Not sure which is worse but both mean I'm sitting for awhile.

that's fine for the short term. But eventually you have to make some money. I don't know about you but the bank that hold my mortgage, truck and car payments won't wait that long

Can't comment on Fetch. Never used them. Will say this I've dealt with many brokers over the years. They have their ups and downs (mostly ups) but one thing I do know is they try to move the load as cheaply as possible. If you call on a load they give you the rate,if it's not to your liking shoot a rate back at them (make sure it's one you want) chances are they will say something like give me 10 minutes and I"ll call you back. One other thing try to set yourself up with only a few brokers and run for them. The last couple of years I worked I only used 5 brokers. I ran a certain area and found brokers who had outbound and inbound freight. They're out there, just need to do some research and talk to other O/O's in your area. Find out who they use. Have a friend who has used the same two brokers for the past 10-12 years. Doesn't deal with anyone but them. Gets is rate out-gets his rate back. Good way to do business and less headaches.

How long is that sustainable before the freight world implodes?

We are averaging twice that and still struggling to survive.

Must be some type of squeeze, because this is nuts.

This is desparation on their part and I hope it ends soon.
