I to worked as a correctional officer. I worked for Georgia State (At West Georgia Boot Camp) and I worked at a Prison (Carroll County Prison). It was a interesting career. I'm kindof stuck right now. I did like corrections but I wanted to be in law enforcement. I'm either going trucking or as a officer. But, unless I can get sponsored I'll be trucking.

Just a heads up !! If you prefer sleeping night and driving days, reefer may not be the best choice ! Night driving is required of all drivers, of course, but reefer drivers go to food warehouses, produce centers, primarily at night, or early morning...david07003 and SSMETAL Thank this. -
Is it easy for you to switch over. Like, so that you can drive at night? I'm trying to give this my all. This is something that I'd like to do I'm just wanting to get all the insight that I can first.

when i was there most runs were during the day i did have a couple overnite runs but most were the del was at 4am driving a reefer is not bad once you get used to it and contrary to popular belief the units r not that loud and when you r tired noise doesn't make much different

oh gilbert one more thing if you can go to Canada and the tell you to dont turn it down if they tell you del around the corner from the yard like the walmart dc do it alot of guys who complain r the ones that turn that stuff down

Just an added comment on reefers:
What bothers most drivers (who are bothered) isn't the volume.. it's the change. Reefer engines come on and shut off automatically, and some people just have a miserable time trying to adjust to that.
Myself, I quickly reached a point where I could guesstimate when the motor would kick on/off, even when I was asleep. If it did NOT kick on (happened occasionally) I'd wake up and investigate. Usually it was just a significant change in the weather.
One thing other drivers will appreciate: If you are running your reefer, either park nose-to-tail with dry vans, or park with other reefers. (sure, you can't always, but you CAN always try)SSMETAL Thanks this. -
i forgot that point just before i switch over to the dryside i used to try and park nose to tail or would jus rather hit a rest area

The way I run varies quite alot actually.
Last night I stayed in a hotel room in Laredo so I could have a beer, of course it meant I didn't get up and start running until ###### near noon today.
I have had runs where I ran all nights, then turn around get a 10 hour break and run all days. Thats trucking though as any driver will tell you. As far as the reefers kicking on and off some are hell doing it and some aren't, you will have more trouble adjusting to the shaking way the rig turns off with opti idle than anything with the reefer.SSMETAL Thanks this.
