I bought fleetguard filters this past year in bulk. About 4 years worth of fuel and oil filters. The idea was I keep what I need, sell the rest to our other guys that take same filter... sort of back fired.
450$ for 24 FS1000, 6 LF3000, and 6 HF6601
Bought them during a Christmas special online.

Had a pump rebuilt for a Big Cam around 1999, during conversation with the owner about filters he told us he gets more business from people that use NAPA fuel filters, than any other filter. I remember back in the 80's I was talking to Dad about filters. He mentioned a truck he was working on at the time that was under warranty. Engine had been down more than once, and when the manufacture seen that the owner used Baldwin oil filters, they automatically voided his warranty!
Each to there their own and I don't care what you prefer or use. I use AC/Delco on my GMC for a reason, just as I use Cummins filters on my Big Cam, for the same reason.JimmyWells Thanks this. -
Had never hear much bad about NAPA/Wix filters previously. Though have never really used them.
Fleetguard moved their mfg plant to Mexico some years back. Remember that created some blow back on the co back then. But do not think most pay attention to those things long term.
Did have several mechanics mention issues with Baldwin, but that was in the late 90's.
I use Donaldson on my CAT C12. They also make the CAT branded filters. Suppose to be the same micron rating filtration wise, but are a different/lighter casing.JimmyWells and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
I don't like Baldwin personally. A lot of their filters are not packaged properly (ie not vacuum sealed in plastic, just thrown into a box). I can't say we've had any failures related to those filters. Just a bit disgusting to get a brand new filter out of the box full of cardboard shavings.
JimmyWells and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
We're a bigger company so we have prefered vendors who supposedly give us the best price on certain items. In most cases we buy most of our filters in large quantities from large industrial supply stores.
JimmyWells Thanks this. -
Yup. Mack filters for the Mack. Motorcraft filters for the Fords. AC Delco filters for the GMC. For the longest time, I used the Motorcraft branded oil in the Fords, too. Figured if there was ever a problem, the engine maker will blame the oil...oil maker blames the filter...filter maker blames the engine and NOBODY wants to cover the warranty. Sorry, but YOUR NAME is on ALL of it, so figure it out and cut the #### check.KB3MMX, JimmyWells and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this.

So about the actual topic...who do you use to supply YOUR oil filters?
-
Pick 'em up at my local Mack dealer.
OLDSKOOLERnWV, KB3MMX and JimmyWells Thank this. -
What do they run you by the case?
-
It used to be $50 for a convenient pack of filters for a service...2 oil, a primary & secondary fuel, a centrimax oil filter, and the conditioner for the coolant. They quit packaging it like that, though, so I just buy the filters as I need them.
KB3MMX and JimmyWells Thank this.
