I talked to a lady at DCS on Thursday and she said that I'd have to use the calculator to figure how much I should be paying. When my child support was orig determined, I was unemployed. So $411, to me is high for being unemployed, but not nearly enough to care for a child. My fiancée's ex husband, making $40k a year, only has to pay $175, according to the calculator. So I'm QUITE a bit stumped on that. I asked the lady at DCS, if parenting time effects the amount, which to Oregon Courts it does, and she said not really. She also said that for it to significantly change the amount of support, I would need to have my son more than half of the month. Well, according to Oregon courts again, if I had him more than half the time, I would be the residential parent and would be able to file child support against my ex wife. ####...Oregon is messed up. Lol, do attorneys take food stamps?

And I can attest to chompi's comment about Central willing to help out. I recently had an issue and the company was fast to resolve it and go that extra mile for me. Good to see a company who cares about their employees...probably the first one I've ever had.

    chompi Thanks this.

You could always find an O/O that'll pay you on 1099. Then YOU determine how much CS gets sent in, as I don't believe that he'd be required to withhold anything since you'd be a contractor.

Are there any O/O's that are willing to hire a FNG right out of training? It's a good idea, and the same thing if/when I decided to go O/O. Don't worry, not going to look into it for at least a year, and when we aren't living paycheck to paycheck.

I found one (through TTR, in fact) that has 2 trucks, and hired me straight out of school. I showed up, he tossed me the keys, I spent half a day going over the truck, the other half in the shop getting all the DOT nasties fixed, and he sent me out on my own to pick up my first load. 45K of beer. :D I've been running the northeast, and It's been a challenging and informative few weeks to say the least.

It's possible that he has more than 1 baby momma, which tends to reduce the amount sent to each one. The total amount that he's paying to all of them may be higher than what you're paying.

I was there for the whole divorce proceedings. I wasn't what caused the split between them, just helped her get through it all from day one, they were split for a year before the divorce started. So I know he only has one child. But I see what you are saying.

And really?! About the O/O thing? Some people have trust like no other. Lol. Personally I'd rather use the company's truck to tone my skills, not somebody else's. Mind if I ask how he paid you?

Just be weary about working for an owner operator. Sometimes getting paid can be an issue. A lot of things are done under the table. Not saying don't do it, just be selective.

N172, I understand your frustration, I AM a vet and i AM helping support a child that is not mine. He is my son but only in my heart not blood. I also have 2 children of my own. I am currently living paycheck to paycheck so im looking into getting in to trucking to make more money then i am working at a pizza place times are tough you just have to work through it. It WILL get better. I know things will get better for you. hope this helped inspire you to keep pushing forward. BUT remember sometimesyou have to take a step back to move forward.
