OK - In Saskatchewan, there's a company called Western Carrier out of Regina who not only finances Commercial Insurance Policy's for Trucks, but he also finances IFTA.
Does anyone happen to know if there is a company who finances IFTA for Alberta?

I'm confused. (not that this is anything new, you understand) Why would you need to finance IFTA?
-
Keep track of your mileage and do your own IFTA. It's very easy. Sure as heck don't need any financing for IFTA.
-
LOL! I mean for the prorated plate! Sorry!
-
EDIT #26. If the guy in Regina will finance your PRP, why not ask him to do the deal with Alberta tin? he's essentially dealing with the same folks anyway.
-
I'm Lol again - I just thought of that!

If he's financing your prorate, that includes Alberta or any other province or state.
There's only one fee for a plate. ie; let's say you drive 100,000 kms. a year in SK, MB and AB.
Now, let's say that 15% of kms. are in Manitoba and 10% Alberta so that leaves SaSK. WITH 75%.
Cost of Alberta Plate (let's use $2900.00) a year X 10 % so Alberta would get $290.00.
Manitoba say $3,000.00 a year X 15% = $450.00
Sask. Say $2,800.00 a year X 75% = $2,100.00 For a grand total of $2,840.00 And the sales tax would be based on the depreciated value of the truck to a maximum of 50% and let's say Sask. tax is 8%, that would be 8% of say a value of $100,000. = $8,000. X 75% = $6000.00 and Man lets say it's 6% so that would be $6,000.00 X 15% = $900.00
Any of these charges are adjusted on next years prorate application by using your ACTUAL miles travelled in the previous year. -
I did speak with him today. His name is Jason, and he owns a company called Western Carrier. He has tried with other provinces to get the prorate office to agree to let him finance, but they are unwilling as he becomes "power of Attorney" for those funds which other provinces aren't willing to give up with the exception of SK. It sounds too complicated, but regardless - I'd either have to switch my plates to SK... or try to find the money for both trucks - which is about $4500-5000 each. Arggg.
I think I'm just going to have to keep running permits for awhile longer.
But on another note PB..... wish I had sat next to you in math class!
