I just had a question, I have a trainer that spent a few hundred dollars on illegal fireworks in a state they are legal. The question is we drove all around the country since the 19th of June with these in the truck, east coast to west, this can't be legal can it? Please help the TRAINEE, Thanks!

I believe bringing illegal fireworks into a state is of course illegal. And putting them in a commercial vehicle may be illegal, I do believe they are considered an explosive.

alot of states fireworks are legal to own but you can not them shoot off.
I do not know if it is legal or not to have fireworks in a cmv.

Just because the Fireworks are illegal to possess in our state does not stop the sales of them I have seen stands in Lasalle, Johnstown, Loveland, Fort collins and a few other towns.

Yes they are considerd as explosives. If there were to be an accident the possiblity there exists that someone can be charged with carrying explosive devices, and this day and age of anti terrorism will make matters worse. Just don't talk to anyone else about this, as that person may turn you in.

I might add that I am a Trainee not the Trainer, I had no choice in the matter. I could of been a rat but I have been patient with the problem with only one week to go. Also you know what these companies do with complainers.

Yeah, you ain't kidding best to keep yer yap shut and be done with it. but yes fireworks are hazmat (when you have enough by weight) requiring a placard (1.4 explosive).
Probably best to lay off the smokes while they're around...

1.4 explosive is table 1 haz-mat, meaning ANY amount carried as cargo requires that the appropriate placards be shown on the truck.

No smoking allowed in, on or near the truck, even with flammable gasses and liquids. (Class 2.1 and 3 respectively)

Being right out of school I knew that Mack, I guess I'm trying to justify not ratting the guy out, (which in a way makes me guilty also) On a previous post I diicussed how I was screwed over by May Trucking cause my trainer was a piece of S***. I do not want to go through that again. I wonder where these trainers come from, or how they are the chosen ones? I have already received one ticket in Maryland for going on a route the trainer told me to take, and that cost me 100.00! Welcome to being a NEWBIE Huh?

I almost bought a bunch of fireworks this week going through Tennessee on I24, but decided I didn't want to spend the money this year.

Yes, I have bought fireworks many times and hauled them home in the truck, and yes I know it is probably illegal. However, I will probably do it again, more than once :)

As for telling on the driver, I wouldn't even consider doing something like that. Truth be told, whoever you told would probably say "thank you", then laugh out loud once they hung up the phone if it was someone from the company that you were telling.

Truck drivers picking up fireworks to take home for the holiday is not uncommon at all.
