    Talked to Freightliner supervisor.
He said a lot of those glider engine warranties he has to refuse because they aren't Detroit parts. Fitzgerald takes up to 3 days to reply and another week to approve and supply parts.
Dealer said even the Detroit injectors won't work in the fitz rebuilt motor. Chinese knock off computers and different software.
Wasn't sure if he was just trying to sell me his stuff or what.
    Either way I'm not buying.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

The mechanic said something about the software in the different ecm. The real Detroit injectors physically fit but won't operate properly.
IDK. I have an N14 and will ride it until I park the truck.

I made the mistake and commented about the clean Detroit crate motor he had in the shop. Then I asked about rebuilds and gliders.

A customer had a few hundred thousand miles on a Fitzgerald glider and he was putting the crate motor in the glider. Customer was disappointed with the Fitzgerald motor. He was paying the bill and planned on asking Fitzgerald for reimbursement.

Lonesome and MACK E-6 Thank this.

I thought about their glider as the current truck replacement. Emission and ELD exemption was the motive. This thread is one more indication that it is not such a good idea, even if the op is saying this out of frustration.

There doesn’t seem to be any good solution anymore. It’s either junk or junk.

    Tall Mike Thanks this.

I remember when all these were just hitting the market real good. Quite awhile back it was said do not use one of their remans , use manufacturers remans.

Does that mean you should run it a couple thousand miles and get a oil analysis to check for bad so quick?

    Lyle H Thanks this.
