I walked through the Fitz display at the Dallas truck show.... plenty of loose wires that should have been loomed. Zip ties holding stuff together.... and that's fine, to an extent, but at least trim them up.
If that's their idea of a 'Show Quality' truck I'd hate to see what they're passing off to the average customer.MagnumaMoose Thanks this. -
When does freightliner cover rebuilt/remanufactured engine in a glider?
Also ecm firmware gets changed through a computer. If you have a really good tech or hacker, you can change those 'hard coded' options. -
Hahahaha.....best one I heard in a long time. And sadly, very true.
-
Freightliner doesn't. The owners of these trucks think the warranty is backed by Freightliner because their "new" truck has Freightliner body
-
In a glider, the only thing covered under the manufacturer warranty is the body, and frame. It doesn't cover the drivetrain.
-
Can get a powered glider, reman engine gets put in coming down the line . It gets full warranty. One of the three components has to be left out , order a rolling power glider , then hang the trans once you get it.

The issue I had with my series 60 from Fitzgerald pales in comparison to one with an EGR and DPF. Get you an emissions engine and have mechanics throw parts at it “hoping” to fix it when something goes wrong. When a pre emissions engine has issues they can actually diagnose and repair it. The aftermarket parts that I did have issues with were replaced with OEM Detroit parts and the warranty started over on those parts.
When you find anything with a motor in it that won’t eventually have some issue, let me know. If they had not stood fully behind my engine and warranty I would have a different opinion of Fitz, but if I need another one I will buy it from Fitz.
My rig has been to Pete more times to replace new Paccar parts under warranty than Detroit to fix my rebuilt ones. It is still part of trucking so I don’t just up and quit because I am shocked that a moving part would actually fail. -
Whatever is on the truck when it leaves the factory is what has factory warranty on it. And Fitz isn’t the only place to buy a glider if that the way you want to go. Just takes a salesman that knows his butt from a hole in the ground. Many will say they “can’t” get them anymore, but that’s not true.
