My DPF light is flashing and I think it might be because my oil level is over filled. This morning it was below freezing and I thought my oil level was low so I added more. Then I realized that the oil had just contracted so now it's over filled. How long do I have before I derate? Can I make it 45 miles? Thanks

I doubt you adding oil is causing that... How much did you add like a gallon or so?

All you have to do is drive so it does passive Regen.

You'll have to get it scanned to know, A quart of oil one way or the other is nothing to sweat about. In fact don't add oil at all until it needs the whole gallon is usually the way to go.

I would just keep going and see what happens next, sometimes those lights just flash when it is regening, like if you stop, its letting you know not to touch the exhaust when you get out because it is very hot. if it derates, then you'll need to find a shop and get it scanned. If you look on your visor, there is usually a sticker to tell you what all the lights do and what it means when they do it.

Did a manual regen twice and it the DPF light stops flashing and remains solid then after a 20 minutes it starts flashing again

Something must wrong with the DPF. If you did the manual Regen like it asked for. If it's still very cold it might not be getting hot enough to burn off the soot. The engine should crank up RPMs and turn on the injecter for the DPF and pump diesel into DPF and light it on fire. The DPF needs to reach like 800F-1,000F to burn off the soot.
