Learn to drive and flatbed properly then worry about buying a truck....If your only in Trucking your the Money you wont be around long.

You should make at least a million a week... and never break down, be home every night, etc.
dino6960 and American-Trucker Thank this. -
You need more than six monthes to become decent at driving. Being an owner/operator means you are a businessman who drives a truck. If you're looking for money, driving may be the best. You might make $70,000 - $90,000 or you might make $20,000 - $40,000. Unfortunately the chances are you'll lose everything.
If you are serious read every thread on the first two pages of the owner/operator section. Then you will understand what you have to do and you will have some specific questions.

One more thing, if you are thinking lease/purchase just go to work at McDonalds or Wal-Mart, you'll probably make more. Often with fleece/purchase you get a statement showing how much you owe this week instead of a check.

If you are going to be an o/o in 6-12 mos. why do you want to drive for Maverick now? Does Maverick know you'll be bidding adieu in the near future?
I would never be a company driver for a flatbed company unless it paid at least 25% to the driver.
If it's to save up a down payment you can make more $ running miles for a drop & hook co. -

No but I enjoying trucking, i love the trucks, i like to drive, and see new places. And I fully understand that I'm not going to be rich driving a truck, while it is possible to make $100k+/yr it isnt likely or common for most drivers.
If you only get into trucking to make allot of money and do as little work as possible, you wont be around very long.....being an O/O is allot of work and most O/O's don't make the $$$ they should be making for all the work they put in.
