We just bought a 2006 Fontaine 48x102 flatbed for nursery stock delivery. Loads will be mixed between shrubs, larger trees, and pallets of mulch. I have a couple of questions:

1: Looking for a bulkhead for the trailer, any thoughts?

2: Best way to tarp these mixed loads? Some loads may be 8 pallets of mulch with trees and a few shrubs, some may be no pallets, but trees and shrubs in containers.

The loads have to be tarped, and I have looked into covered wagon sidekits, but when you throw a pallet into the mix that stands 6+ feet tall, that option doesnt work. Does anyone know if we can use the stakes and FRP sides without the hoops and special tarp, or are the hoops absolutely necessary?

    Thanks

Usually can't haul nursery stock in a conestoga, called about loads before. They think it'll get too hot inside and hurt the plants. (even with the back open.) Not true I know, but you can't reason with stupidity.

Thanks for the replies so far.

I am interested in a conestoga, but have no idea what a conversion for our trailer would cost vs side boards and net tarps. This setup is for our own nursery, with most deliveries within the state, so no real concern with heat due to long runs.

Any ideas on how much $$$ a conestoga conversion runs?

side kits & mesh tarps will be a whole lot cheaper.we haul tree's here in tn. & use 2x6 boards for sides with mesh tarps.this works good for us,but if you have containers on the load too then you might need the 4ft. sides.
