In my sleeper there is a cord behind the cabinet that runs to the top of the cabinet that plugs in for 12 volts.

I was just wondering if that's something that come standard on the trucks and that just is the same wattage as what you plug into the cigarette lighter?

Or is it something that was added? I don't think there's any kind of inverter on the truck but I never really thought about it to look. I have to look at the batteries again but I don't recall any fuses or extra cables.

    The truck is a 1995 fld120.

My FLD was just a small bunk. But my rule of thumb when it comes to trucks is that if it doesn’t appear factory (not mounted, not a clean wiring job, etc) I would trace the wires and inspect them and see where they come from. Or I would cut the wires out and start over. Either way, make sure your truck isn’t going to burn down.

Both mine had 2 in the bunk, 1 for TV, in cabinet behind passenger seat. The other is mounted on cabinet, behind Drivers seat, on the side, facing bunk.

Both Trucks also had a 12v fridge, behind Drivers seat. Those wires could be used to add a 12v outlet, if you’re using an inverter, and ac mini fridge, and don’t need it. Thanks for the idea!

I'll have to look more closely at it but I'm just trying to figure out if that's just the same as plugging into the cigarette lighter and they just put it in the back for convenience or if someone added something.

I guess I just have to follow the wires and see where they Lead Me.

I really don’t know, mine has never worked, but the cigarette lighter used to. So I’d say they’re on separate circuits. Only the TV one works on my Truck. The fridge might be a higher amperage, and not suitable for an outlet. Might be dangerous, I don’t know. But if the receptacle itself is bad, they sell them at Love’s. Wilson brand, under $20. Looks exactly like original.

The good thing is that it’s super easy to add outlets and such to the sleeper, run them out the bunk floor, and bring the wiring back into the center of the dash to wire it direct.
