They said they won't reimburse you for travel expenses to get to orientation?. Most companies do. One even gave me money despite me driving my own car and not submitting gas receipts or asking for anything.

For orientation they might but it's every time you'd want to go home after that and live over 300+ miles.Redtwin Thanks this.

How far South are you?. Yeah, if they don't have regular freight down there you could run into probs if they aren't willing to let you take the truck home.

It's been about a decade since I worked there. Back then many people complained a bit Western, just like now. I did fine there, as a rookie. I just got out there and worked. My trainer hammered it home, "Trucking is what you make of it." He's right. People go from company to company looking for this nirvana of a job. They're all pretty much the same. Its not so much about the company. Its moreso about the driver. The mantra for all companies is the same: you make your money by showing you can deliver on time. You can make a living anywhere by following those words. That being said, if you do apply to Western, and they give you an offer, take it, soak in all you can for about a year because then the money will start creep upwardsSirscrapntruckalot and ThomasTrucker21 Thank this.

I hear ya. My dads been in the industry for 30+ years so I know some of the ins and outs and I know you don’t make money unless your wheels are turning. I’m not looking to become a millionaire but I am trying to live comfortably as I get older. I did put an app in and they called me yesterday. They’re currently looking for dry van drivers so there is a spot there if all else fails. She told me I’d be out about 4-6 weeks at a time which for me isn’t terrible but my girlfriend may indeed lose her mind unless and I could stop through on 34 hour resets or something like that. I will keep them as an option for sure though.

I work at ABCO in Ocala. I am based out of Miami, they do right by me. 3 months here and I'm happy so far. Had me in a week

Gotta get my experience in. Will be graduating next week from school and going with Windy hill foliage to get started. I think ABCO requires a year or two of experienceSpeed_Drums Thanks this.

I see them advertising all the time. Whats the average gross there per week?.
-
They require a year of experience but they'll give you advice if you call in. Great gal's in the office.Speed_Drums Thanks this.

I'm averaging 1400-1500 but I like my hometime and I'm OTR. I'm 3 weeks out. No complaints about the pay. I had an issue with my truck when I first started but it got fixed quickly... that would be my only issue. Just make sure you know where you're picking your truck up from. I'm in Miami, like that they have a terminal here for me to park my truck at.Redtwin Thanks this.
