UPS Macks are the worst with their fog lights On all the time. I know some guys driving Volvo that will drive all the time with their high beam On just because their low beams are lousy? Clean you headlight plastics, change bulbs adjust them or even you can add xenon, but dont blind the rest of the drivers because of your negligence!!!

I've never been blinded by fog lights.
If you are, maybe you should not be driving at night.

Or maybe you should use night vision glasses. That might help.

Although Silverstar Ultra's are good bulbs, much better than stock, they're not perfect. They don't light up the side of the road where the critters like to hang out.

What I meant about my comment was if you are the type of driver that likes to highbeam someone because of fog lights, it's ok, I got some pretty bright highbeams to shine right back atcha.

You burn my retinas over somethin' stupid and I will incinerate yours.
I can't understand why people like you have such an issue with it. You act like these lights are like driving lights. They are not. I can understand the rant over improperly aimed lights or lights that were intended for offroad use only but that's not what we're talking about, at least not me.
I'm going to foolishly assume you are talking about people in general, not just me because I very clearly stated my purpose for using my fog lights. It's not to look "cool" nor are they "super-trucker" lights. But then again, it doesn't matter what I say because you simply do not care. All you care about is what affects "you" and how everyone needs to adjust their style to accommodate "your" needs.

Again, they are not "dangerous" when used properly so stop with the drama.
Lol...... I would have more of a comment but just laughing at your "Me, Me, Me" attitude will suffice.

    I know.

But their complaints won't change what I do either.

After your combined 8 years of experience guys and my 30+ years of accident free driving when I retired , I'll just say you 2 guys continue to do what you want....

corneileous...you are entitled to that opinion...I just completely disagree...You say that I have an I , ME complex and all I think about is how your running fog lights is wrong , and it's ME being selfish. The exact same thing can be said about you running your fog lights and blinding folks that you meet......fog lights aren't for running in clear conditions...and if you need them to see better at night then your night-vision capabilities may need to be addressed by a physician. If you think fog lights will help you see the critters better , fine...but , even if they do , you still have no control over what that critter will do..that light may even startle a deer/elk/etc into running back the way it came (which when an animal is startled that's what they normally do because they know that way was safe )...and that way may be directly back across the road in front of you....it could happen.

I'm not gonna try and get into a contest on who is right or who isn't....this is a forum where sometimes opinions clash....no big deal. But after the length of time I spent under the wheel...I believe I have a pretty good grip on what's a safe way to operate a commercial vehicle....run your lights ...all you choose to. If I meet you on a 2-lane I'll just look at the right - hand shoulder til you pass...I never did throw my bright lights into anyone's face.....mainly because a head-on collision isn't/wasn't on my "bucket list" of things to be involved in. And , besides 2 wrongs don't make a right.

You and Moosetek13 are good forum members , and most of the time we are all three in agreement on stuff...this just isn't one of those times....no hard feelings I hope. My rant wasn't meant to offend or judge...just make my opinion known..Both you folks be safe....TTTD....

Just read through some of the comments and found one from my hubby, so this thread is so old that Jim who doesn't log on and hasn't in a while even posted to it. I should have read the past posts before and found what he had said.

I knew that card was comin......

Oh I love it when I basically get told to shut up because my experience level doesn't match the person who disagrees with me.....lol.

So what if I've only been driving a CMV for 5 years. I've been driving since I was 18 but, either way, I havent been driving as long as you have so, what i say means nothing.
    How?

You know what, don't answer that because its pointless. I guess were both selfish so, we're not gonna reach an agreement.
Says who? Just because they are named "fog" lights, using them in conditions other than fog, is unethical?

I have mud and snow tires on my pickup. They have an "M+S" emblem on the sidewall. Is that all the sudden sposed to mean that, unless its muddy or snowy I shouldn't use them??
My night vision capabilities are fine.

Sounds to me like yours, and everyone elses night vision and light sensitivity capabilities ought to be tested if they are that sensitive to light and night but nah, let's make everybody else who's offending us adjust before we adjust ourselves.
Hmmm..... Little bit different perspective from where I sit but hey, it's fine cuz I never expected otherwise.
Not saying you don't but, experience level has nothing to do with fog lights.
Sorry but, you or anyone else who's offended of two extra lights coming at you at night from just one vehicle thats sensitive to light doesn't all the sudden say I'm doing something wrong but, your ability to look at the fog line rather than highbeam someone is commendable.

Facts...sometimes they bring out the real truth...corneileous , I'm trying hard to ignore your arrogance. You seem to have chip on shoulder about anyone that has more experience than you do in these matters. I'm not saying that you're wrong , only mis-guided.....running those lights is really UN-necessary is all I'm saying. If the case was they are necessary then the DOT would require them to on on from Dusk to dawn...it's a choice to run them all the time....a freaking choice. Yours to make. I think they aren't needed...you do ...nobodies right ...nobodies wrong. Your level of experience and level of arrogance go hand-in hand.....it comes with the territory sometimes. You'll come to learn as you mature as a driver just what I'm talking about and your attitude and outlook hopefully will change. I only wish you safe travels and a great career.....
