Dont care what fancy features a tracking app has, in not putting it on my phone... Want to know where I'm at call me.
olddog_newtricks, 6wheeler and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Nice selling point, app has Wal Mart locations. Trucker gets his Truck towed while parked in Wal Mart. Lol

####, I cannot stand it when the Photographer technically takes a PERFECT picture of a big rig, only to see it tell me stories of rubbing steers 10 times from the wrong date tearing of the tires.
And what's with Planet Orange inside the truck. This is not Holland....Last edited by a moderator: Jun 12, 2019

In all my year's in dealing directly with shippers and receivers I have only ran across a handful that wanted to see where I was.
If you run a 1000 miles and you have 15 feet to pick up something extra along the way, is that any of the broker's business? I think that's what the tracking is all aboutx1Heavy Thanks this. -
The ones I hate. Do battle into NE, come out of NE all night and rest of today, pull into the Somerset Truckstop west of the Toll Pike on I-70 as the crow flies.
Pass out into bed. last prayer sent to God thanking him and angels for not hurting people killing anyone and so on with the epic run.
16 hours later, go to counter get a epic meal, work on it carefully with much fluids. Take care of one self where possible
18 hours later drop into the drivers seat. Qualcomm is going crazy. Still two days to deliver.
Hewwo?
YOU. Have. Been. There. 18. Hours. As if it was some how a great sin committed against mankind in some way.
Explain yourself.
Certainly. Three logbooks, 2000 miles since the Georgia to CT run and back out to here gunning for Iowa at some point in the future when we get there. hit send.
That is not acceptable driver. You have been sitting there 18 hours. Explain yourself
Now I know I am dealing with a higher functioning savant on his precious computer. I wrap satellite keyboard and it's speaker into a duffel with lots of sound proofing in it for that purpose.
Half tanks to Des Moines, two packs of smokes due in 17 hours now. Time to go.
Keep in mind i Only need about 13 hours of the upcoming 17 hours and ticking so precious to dispatch. tic toc tic toc6wheeler Thanks this. -
Do you answer the calls or provide daily check calls for location updates? Are you honest about your location & are you on time for picks/drops?
Shippers more & more are requiring this on their loads because it helps them to work around transit times & real time delays or other obstacles that can happen.PPLC Thanks this. -
If the load is sealed & meant to be for a dedicated truck ( no matter the amount of floor the freight takes in a trailer) then it is expected that you wont partial it out. That is a big risk should there be an accident or if some of the freight is dropped at the wrong receiver or one of the shippers damages another shippers freight while loading their own.

If my phone rings I answer... I have no reason to be dishonest about location or ETA. If I'm late for a pick up or delivery it is due to weather or mechanical break down, both of which are very rare, in which case I call to inform customer of the nature of the problem and a new ETA. If I'm given an appointment I make there when I'm supposed to be (barring afore mentioned weather and mechanical issues), or I tell them I cant make it before I take the load. Most of the time I am 6 or more hours early for appointments.
I'm not out here to dink around, I'm out here to make money. I run 3300 to 4100 miles a week, every week... With an average of 3700. If they can't take my word as truth, then I cant take thier load... Period. -
Well then you are in the minority, and you are doing a good job.
Most carriers/drivers do not promptly report issues and they will provide false updates etc.
But if a load requires tracking, then it requires tracking. Obviously you don't have to take it but nowadays you may he severely limiting yourself from the better paying loads.
