The dd13 was available up to 500 hp, but read the plate on top of the motor, it'll say what it was built as. (Reason I know this is I was considering a Schneider truck and their tanker trucks are dd13 derated to 455 from 500)

Well, I decided against it, the 2.64 ratio just isn't enough, for what I need it. I'm done crawling up hills.
-
It's not as small as you think since it's direct gears. But I understand.
-
This was the same probably then, because it's listed at 455, but the ratio, and a few other things, bide me to wait a bit longer.
-
You lost me at direct gears, haha, but after checking it out, I see now, it might be the same, but I would like to know before I spend this much money.Last edited: Jan 26, 2017

The trans doesn't run a traditional overdrive. Such as 3.36, 3.42, 3.55... Those run an overdrive.
The 2.64 gears that schneider runs are direct gears with no overdrive. I've heard you get better fuel millage, but who knows.
Try doing a search on the forum for direct vs overdrive. A lot of guys swear by the direct gears. -
Thats what im doing right now :0)ChicagoJohn Thanks this.

i checked it out, i'll stick with what i know, but now i know about direct gears too. thanks
