When guesstimating, I found if I fill it up, till the high pressure switch kicks the compressor off, it’s good. After that, you can put a little bit more, usually OK, but once it starts rapid cycling on and off, you got too much. If it Stays off, way too much. Lol. At least 35 lbs on low side, usually works well. No hurry, give it time to cycle through. You don’t want it to run low, even if it’s cold. Tempting to just stop adding early. But too little will make the compressor run hot, and shorten the life. The Freon actually acts as a coolant for the compressor. Mine calls for 55oz. I put in 5 cans, (60oz.) purging the air in the line, on each can. A 10 % overcharge. has never caused me a problem. Exact amount though, can’t go wrong. That’s best, since if something’s not working right, you’ll know. Reminds me, I’m a can shy on mine. Lol. That last can makes a big difference in high heat/ humidity. Don’t always Practice what I preach.
