Back at the hotel.
First day or orientation was boring as it could’ve been. Started the day off with breakfast at the hotel, then taken to a clinic for a DOT physical, drug screening and work function test. The function test was super easy IMO. After that they shuttle you to orientation. Some guys didn’t get back till after lunch (today was chick fila) so the day was watching videos and doing computer training, idk what they’re called here but they were CBT’s when I was at Werner. The experienced guys took their road tests and those of us going with trainers did not. Tomorrow they said we’ll meet the COO and all the other directors of the company. Tomorrow is a day of powerpoints and listening to them talk all day. Orientation is 7-5. When you get back to the hotel they provide dinner. It was pretty good tonight but it’s not a lot of food. There’s plenty of restaurants by the hotel and fast food. And even a porn shop if you need one. I’ll update how tomorrow goes. Fire off with questions and if I don’t know I’ll ask and find out!!!VinceBlack, Chinatown, Speed_Drums and 1 other person Thank this. -
What hotel do they put in ? Do you get your own room ? What does the work function test consist of ?

They must be doing some kinky stuff inside there.
Considering it's all free now to everybody in the world
On there cell phones.
Most have went out of business.
We all know about boring orientations, go to the
Porn shop across the street and gives us some
Details on all the disgusting stuff going on over there.
We need a good laugh.VinceBlack Thanks this. -
Work function test was stepping up 3 steps, 5 times. Locking and unlocking a load lock with each hand, kneeling for crouching for 30 seconds, 100 lb minimum pull with one hand, and lifting a 50 lb crate on a shelf and back 3 times. It was easy. They also do your vision and hearing at that time.Lonesome Thanks this. -

Today was mainly powerpoints with the orientation leader talking. Met the COO, safety director and Mr. Freymiller came in and spoke to us. Never heard of the owner speaking to an orientation class. Tomorrow we will meet every one else such as VP and directors of various departments. Firehouse subs for lunch. Not much to say besides the presentations are dry. They try to make it entertaining and make sure everyone has a good time however it’s still pretty boring. Not much to report. I’m sure I’ll have a lot more to say when I actually get on a truck. But so far, it’s been a great experience.

Afterthoughts.
Thinking about home time. There are some places if you live they get you home every two weeks. I forget exactly all of them. OK, KS, LA, Places like that. Everywhere else is 3 weeks or 21 days out. 4 days max off at a time. Home time must be requested 14 days in advance. Vacation I believe is a month in advance. Yes they turn your fuel card off when you’re at home. No more driver facing cameras. But road facing cam with a bendix system (personally I hate bendix) but at least they’re doing away with driver cams. Some of the older trucks have it but the new ones do not. Trucks are 2018 and newer and they are in the process of selling off 2015+ trailers.VinceBlack, nredfor88, Loudstacks and 3 others Thank this.
