Sounds like the thermostat is busted. Those Volvo fridges are expensive melons.

Crack the door open a bit?
Or perhaps just turn it off every now and then. -
Contact my employer and tell them you'll trade them for the fridge in truck #234. It barely gets cold even on high.
BigRedNY Thanks this. -
The turning off every so often is a solution my dad came up with for the mini fridge at his office years ago. The thermostat got stuck on full blast and would freeze everything. He got one of those 24 hour timers that you used to turn on lights at your house when you're on vacation. He set every other switch to on so it would turn on every hour and off every hour. It worked like a charm and ran like that for a couple of years before another professor found a replacement at the flea market. Dad took it home and made it his beer fridge, timer and all.

I use those timers at home. To turn on the lights and make it look like i'm home. And turn off the lights.
banders77 Thanks this. -
Mine you can't put vegetable's or nothing like that on the top shelf or they'll freeze, I found as long as you put them in the door they stay good, that's with the setting at 1.5 - 2.0 depending on the time of year.

Get a good quality fridge, Black and Decker for example. I've had my 3.2 cu.ft. over two years with no issues so far.

It never hurts to pull those Volvo fridges out and clean the coils and behind them every so often too...
You could probably get a new thermostat online for a reasonable price....
