Good to hear your initiative to leave a bad situation! From what I've read I suggest you look at residence outside of Dallas and just commute. 60-100 miles when you have to doesn't seem bad to me. Good luck!

i live insw florida moved here from michigan 33 years ago because i hate the cold.
now florida too many tourists,old people, new people and getting to dam hot.
half the reason i want to get into trucking so i can be up north in the summer maybe northern florida in the winter/ -
No industry but gambling,and to far away from I-40.
15 to 17 bucks an our if your lucky enough to be there
At the exact time that they're hiring.
Tried it myself,the low pay, no overtime and the cost
To live there added up to living week to week.
Moved back to Texas.
If you want local only find a medium size city

Where in Cali you live?
Is the crime and cost of living really that bad?
In my area of Florida you can't buy anything for under 200 unless it is a chitho.
Rent is 1350 minimum more like 1600 for dumps.
Go north up by Tampa little more reasonable.
Median rent costs in the US is $1350 month.
What you pay in Cali? -
If you don't mind the cold, mn has lots of under 200k houses within 40 min of the twin Cities, plenty of tanks up here
