Not a darn thing. It is the max. allowed and not a suggestion.
But driving with situational awareness will get you down the road safer and faster and with less stress than worrying about your speeding.
We need to be able to adapt/adjust to constant changing condition that are out of our control.
That being said most won't get a second look at 5 over the limit as long as you know your actual speed (GPS) and are not depending on your speedo reading.
Commen sense and courtesy will net you a larger overall mileage gain than rolling down the road on the edge of a ticket, speeding wise. BTDT.

I used to tell my mom the speed limit only applies when there's a cop around :biggrin_2559:and then she used to tell me that's why I have speeding tickets and she doesn't. :biggrin_25524:

You want to run 10 mph over? Go for it. You want to run 5 mph under the speed limit? Go for it, but stay out of the hammer lane. Why do so many people worry about other drivers in the left lane in a fast truck when it's restricted, or if someone else is doing 10 or 15 mph over the speed limit? As long as you are not driving like a maniac or being dangerous who cares? It's your license I could care less, the same as if I'm doing it why does it bother you? It's my license it does not affect you in any way. If you get nailed and get a $500 left lane ticket it don't bother me none it don't slow me up or cause me any grief.

Now if someone is doing these things recklessly then by all means it's yours and my business cause it could affect us all then but other then that get over it. JMO :biggrin_25511:

Tazz you seem to have a problem compreding what is being posted. Most states have laws against impeding traffic or whatever they call it. Like most say a driver won't get looked at for going 5 over, unless they are doing something stupid. Also 99.9% of judges consider it a waste of time to try a speeding ticket for 5 over. Also going slow is an indication to LEO's that something isn't right .The three most common reasons is the driver is drunk, unlicensed, uninsured, or any combination of these three.

I assume you mean comprehending what was posted.I comprehend that people expect to be allowed that 5-10 mph over the posted legal speed limit.

What I stated is you have no right to being above that posted legal speed limit. And that in my opinion people that feel they are way to busy to follow the posted legal speed limit should be punished by having their driving privilege revoked for a minimum two years.

Notice the use of the term posted legal speed limit.I have yet to see a posted legal speed limit that say's 65ish mph,or 70ish mph.No they clearly state what is legal.

As an aside are you indicating that actually following the posted legal speed limit I open myself to inquiries by law enforcement officers?Bull Squeeze! That is a fairy tail told by those busy ultra important people to excuse their flaunting of the posted legal speed limit. You know the ones that just have to beat you to that next exit by 10 seconds:biggrin_25526: And feel that 45 mph in a construction zone is unreasonable. They are the very same people that whine about "speed traps" and "revenue enhancement".When in actuality they are inconsiderate law breakers that rely on a court system that would rather not deal with them.

No sir I comprehend perfectly well that people will push the limits, all I'm saying is when you do and are caught take your punishment. And that since they were so ultra important busy people we remove the burden of them actually having to follow the law for a while.Let someone else do their driving for them in an effort to keep them from the inconvenience of having to follow the law.

And by the way to who ever said stay out of the "hammer lane",if I am doing the posted legal speed limit I have every right to be in any lane I choose. So get over it.No I will not move over so you can violate the law.

The world of trucking is not an exact science. Even if your cruise is set on the speed limit you'll go slower up hills and faster down hills and I'm not talking about mountain grades either. You make all the roads completely level and we all can run the exact speed limit. I've never been stopped for 3 - 5 over even in ohio when it was 55 and most drivers ran IL at 5-10 over b4 it was changed to 65

Sorry you feel that way. Ma attitude has always been that I am occupying the lane currently and when I'm done I'll gladly move right so you can use it.
BTW in my state and many others http://www.mit.edu/~jfc/right.html
that do not restrict trucks from the #1 lane it is the law for slower traffic to move right regardless of speed, meaning if your traveling the speed limit but blocking traffic behind you, you have no right to that lane and can/will be ticketed for obstruction.
Doesn't matter, we all have to remember driving on public roads is a privilege not a right.
