Can't wait for an leo to attempt writing me a ticket for following the law:biggrin_25525:

I routinely run the second lane around Atlanta because traffic from off ramps creates sudden stops. While several billy big riggers and a few civilians have done everything from calling the cops to my company to complain.Hasn't changed my stance one iota. The one cop that pulled me over could not bring himself to cite me after seeing both the printout of my speed and my traffic camera recording.Funny he didn't want to face a jury(and oh yes I would demand one as is my right) and explain writing a ticket for obeying the law.My safety department just told them choose another lane and to get off the phone while driving:biggrin_2559:(Actually my safety manager gets a kick out of people that call in off the number on the side of the truck. His first question is always "Are you driving near him now?Call me back when you are not distracted then!",he gets a kick out of it.)

My new truck no longer has the camera but does have the spot report capability(button freezes last 5 minutes info) so like I said I wait for the LEO that wants to write me a citation for not allowing others to break the law.I will make a fortune selling the story to comedians:biggrin_255:

By the way the law's you posted as far as I kind read applies if you are below the posted legal speed limit for the most part. When in the country where intersections are few and far between I would agree the safe lane for law abiding citizens is to the right. However in situations where there are multiple intersections in a short distance I will continue to drive in the farthest left lane the law allows.
Those that state keep right except to pass, define pass.I might have to pass someone attempting to enter at the next on ramp.Poorly written as far as I can tell in the thirty seconds I bothered to read of them.

Lowjo no they are not. I know because I live in Calif. Tazz you still aren't comprending. The LEO's I've spoken to have told me that someone driving excatly the posted Interstate speed raises flags to them. I have already posted the most common 3 in the state of Calif. The same LEO's hinted there are more, but didn't go into detail. Freqeunt lane changes, driving erratically, and other things will get one pulled over quicker than going 5 over the speed limit. On two lane rural Calif. Highways and Interstate unless you are physically passing someone you have to stay in the right lane and that includes on ramps. BTW traffic has to merge with you when they are entering the road. That means if there is an accident they are at fault, not you. Also in many Western states if you have 3 to 5 vechiles you have to use a pullout and let them pass regardless how fast you are going.

Spend some time reading the laws and you'll find that it means move right even if the faster traffic is speeding.
Butl this is America and it is your right to interpret the law and run the way you see fit.
The same with a LEO or judge interpreteing that same law.

I personally don't consider the time I'd spend in court defending myself productive or profitable considering the few moments of time I'd lose following the law as I interpret it. Experience has shown me that cops and judges are always right even when they aren't.

Do you really have that many folks call your company to complain about your driving that it has become a joke to you and your manager?

And good luck with selling your story, with your me first attitude you may be needing a second career sooner or later.

My company fudges the speed limit.. I though I was a super trucker running all out at 62 in those 55's till I tossed Sister Garmina in my lean mean Con-way Freight line-haul machine one night.. It bounced between 60 and 61:(

    I got nothin..

I regularly run 62-63 in California and have passed and been passed by plenty of CHPs without issue. Heck, I've even passed a couple at 65+ and not had a problem, but I wouldn't normally push it quite that far.

Last year I never went under 58 in Ca. I was passed by multiple CHP vehicles and never even got a "slow down" flash. Same went for Slowhio. The key was being in the right lane where I belonged unless I was passing. the only time my truck didn't run the granny lane was (1) passing (2) construction occupying that lane (3) running areas such as ATL, DFW, Indy, L.A. then I would run 1 lane over from the granny to leave the exit/entrance lane empty.

BTW if you're holding up traffic I don't care if you are doing the "legal speed limit" you deserve a ticket as much as that speeder. Luckily I live in an area where they will nail you for it and the judges will make you pay the fine. That's the passing lane.

Again, I have next to zero 18 experience.

But I generally never exceed 65 in my Ram. On 2 lane I stay right (as Texas mandates) unless passing. On 3 or more lanes I ride in #2.

Depending on how fast my PAM truck will be regulated, if under 65 I'll mostly do 60 and keep a couple in reserve. If 68 or more than 65 for the same reason.

Do you really think that someone who was say speeding 5mph over the limit should lose there license for 2 years? I mean thats what criminal actions behind the wheel get, like DUI, hit an run, running from leo. I dont think 5mph over the limit is criminal in any sort unless they are doing it recklessly swerving in an out of traffic and tail gating.
