I have had oil samples analyzed by the same lab every 25,000 miles for the last 550,000 miles. I had an overhead done 30.000 miles ago. every sample before overhead showed less than 1% fuel dilution, since overhead i have done 2 samples, same lab, everything as normal except fuel dilution which is now showing well above 2%.
my question is could this be caused by improper setting of injectors?

When you say overhead , you means valves and injectors adjusted ?
Did you notice a horse power lost since ?
Did the injectors have been removed from the cylinder head at the last (overhead) ?
BenJohny41 Thanks this. -
yes valves and injectors adjusted, no noticeable loss of horse power, the injectors were removed.
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
May be an injector o'rings (upper) has been pinch (damage) during the repair ?
When the engine is warm and running if you remove the oil filler cap did you smell the diesel fuel odor in the valve cover ?
Is the engine is cranking long time before fire up (out of prime) ?KB3MMX Thanks this. -
the cups were replaced 18 months ago, the injectors were removed this time to inspect and test them as they are original almost 1.5 million on them, still good. my mpg is good, 7.5 average and remains the same. engine starts as it always has,no long cranks,. i personally can not smell fuel in oil, i have checked. that does not mean it is not there just that i can not smell it. the dealership is trying to tell me it is the fuel pump. my way of thinking is the problem started after they did work where diesel is present, too much of a coincidence. i never thought of an 'o' ring being pinched, probably have to get another shop to check this out. thanks for your input so far Ben

The way that we do in a case like this is: we have a 5 gallons tub with fuel with dye in it, we remove the fuel supply line and the return line at the fuel tank and run the engine with this fuel 15 minutes, stop and remove the valve cover and check around the injectors with a black light, it's normal to see dye on all injectors plunger but if one is defective you will see more dye around this one.
Also if you want to check the fuel pump you have to remove it and check around the shaft and the seal with the black light then you will know.
On D-12 engine the fuel pump is driven by the accessories drive sometimes the accessories drive bearings come loose and apply a side play pressure on the shaft of the fuel pump and can lead to a leak in the crankcase,an easy way to check those bearings side play, remove the tension of the fan belt and the alternator belt and then with your hand on the accessories drive pulley you feel if there is bearing side play, the normal is no side play.
Good luck. -
