I was thinking your fuel ran cold. But Detroit's don't need fuel heaters because they return so much fuel. Maybe try some hotshotsecret fuel treatment. But not sure that would resolve it.

I think I'm going to resolve it by staying in fl for the next three months lol.

You need fuel treatments. To clean it out. Fuel ages fast now days. Breaks down in 60 to 90 days. Than you get algae or asphalt, and parifin wax.

That’s true. My Davco only filters the big stuff from the fuel pump. The 2 micron Cat filter on the motor protects the injectors.

While treating the carbon packing issue in my isx with howes meaner power cleaner it took my davco from 3/4 full to about an 1/8 in about 800 miles ..
Oil consumption jumped up from a gallon every 2000 miles to a gallon at 13500 .
It works ! ..took about 9000miles treating each fill up .
And of course all the techs wanted to inframe it lol.

wore out and Oldironfan Thank this.

Was the carbon packing from long idle time?

    Oldironfan Thanks this.

I suspect it had a little to do with it as the idle was enabled when I bought it but limited to 700 rpm ...and I know of some company drivers that are to lazy to turn on the apu.
    2013 isx's had issues with this .
I figured why not try the meaner power cleaner for a while before an inframe when the rest of the engine is fine .
I don't know how but it worked and a 160.00 worth of power cleaner is cheaper than an inframe .

Oxbow, Hulld and wore out Thank this.

When extended idle never go below 900 rpm. 1000 is what I do. Low idle rpm will rob engine of oil pressure. Hard on main bearings. And Detroit turbos will fuel slubber. Build up with fuel and drip.

    bzinger Thanks this.

How it worked isn't quite as important as it did work or to me anyway. I'm glad it did we all need a break now and then

rank, Oxbow, SAR and 1 other person Thank this.

Exactly ! The shop foreman where I have my work done laughed at me when I told him of my plan and started seeing results .
He quit laughing after oil consumption went from a gallon at 2000 miles to a gallon at 13500 .
He don't doesent wana about additives anymore with me lol.
And no I did nothing with the oil other than cut the drains to 17k.

    wore out Thanks this.
