Fuel sysytem

    Our shop in framed a maxxforce dt and it will not fire up-cranks great has high pressure oil pressure but cant get any fuel to it- does not have an electric pump it has a mechanical lift pump any ideas on how to prime this thing up???

    It should have the silver hand primer pump near the high pressure oil pump. You should be able to feel pressure build up as you pump that. The fuel in the head is a "dead head" system, meaning there is no return fuel from the head, only the fuel filter module. Since the head is empty of fuel from the overhaul, there will be lots of air. There is a schrader valve to bleed the head. It is just like valve stem on a tire. It may be near the front of the head or somewhere in the middle near the boost sensor. You'll need to hold it in while priming to get all the air out. If you are priming and priming and nothing is building up, check all your fuel lines to make sure nothing got disconnected. Those quick connect fittings aren't the best and don't always reseal after being opened.
