I have a Galaxy "Pluto", which I have it set up as 88. It's an excellent radio except my finals were going out, so I had the RFX75 installed. I get compliments all day long on how CLEAR it sound's. How much did you pay for it ?

Your absolutely correct !!! I have 6 bands on my pluto. When I had the RFX75 installed cause the factory finals were worn out, they told me my radio look just like a 88 set up. The SWR/CAL knob had been replaced with the echo knob. Im not a radio expert, I just go by what I see, learn, and what Im told. Besides, I never use the other bands, I listen to them here and there, and been told my Wilson 1000 is only calibrated(swr)for the band Im on and 1 forward and on backward, other wise I can damage the radio if I was to talk on the other bands, WHICH I DON'T. I bought my radio from a guy who bought it brand new way back and had only used it for 3 months, then it sat on the shelf all these years. I've had it for about 11 years and bought it for $150.00 with the older 56 turner mic.

oh ok Dave. i see what you mean now. i have a pluto also, and it has echo too. it has been a good radio. the EPT6900 series boards were used in many galaxy radios, including the Pluto, 88, 99 and the Saturn.

and 200 for an 88? that might have been a little high, but if the radio has been taken care of and not butchered all up inside and looks good, then it would be an ok investment.

you can get the replacement chrome bezel and case covers off fleabay if you need new ones. those 2 items make a huge difference in the look of a radio.

the biggest problem with the wannabe techs and any radio for that matter is that people like to remove the AMC control. in laymans terms, the AMC controls the modulaion output of the radio. by removing that, it makes the audio splatter and distorted. that one mod alone can ruin any good radio. the 88 and 99 galaxies were audio monsters anyway. no need to ever tamper with that part of the radio.

Yea after I bought it I looked on eBay and there was a 88 for 150 but the reserve wasn't met so I didn't know if it was ok deal or not. It was between the 88 or a older connex 3600. Picked the galaxy because it had a little more options with it. I am at home but when I leave back out I will drop it by a shop and have em open it up and see what it's got done to it. (I only gotto play with it a col hrs before I got home(lol) but liked it do far. It came with a older astatic mic. When I hooked it up the meter didn't work. It's this costly to get fixed? Thanks

These Galaxy radios use the EPT3600-xxx board.

I am having to turn rf gain to about 3/8 for the ringing/ buzzing tone to go away when keyed up. Is this normal? Also squelch has to be about 1/2 to block out noise. Sry guys if these r dumb questions but I am a noob to actually using the cb. Always had one but could care less how it performed. Thanks
