Today was a waste of a perfectly good day.
I was going to work on removing my burned garage roof all day today.
I get a call from a local garage guy to tow a car to him. OK.
So, first, where's the key?
(This is last night.; he's supposed to put the key in the car, on his way past,
going home, for me to "hook and book.")
It's at my garage.
This is why everything takes forever, nobody listens.
Now I drive 7 miles one way - 25 min. round trip - out of my way - for said key.
Get to the first broke down car, and the remote to open the door won't work.
Of course the key doesn't open the door either. Finally get in the back hatch to open it up.
Tow to the garage, and he has another one to go get, this one even farther away.
So that was 9 to noon, then get done with the second one and I have wasted the whole day,
by running around, waiting for people to find keys, waiting for others to move their vehicles,
second car had 3 young men there, could have steered the wheel, they just stood there looking stupid.
I have come to the conclusion that "youth is wasted on the young."PaulMinternational Thanks this. -
Oh, and called for the material to do the roof and vertical siding - 20 grand.
I got 12 different quotes back shortly after this happened, and none were over 8000?
WTF??? -
rolls canardly Thanks this.

I must confess, I first saw that in an Amish gift shop,
one of those cast iron sayings for on the wall.
Another good one from then,
(1960's) was "Too soon old, and too late smart."
I look out the window this morning and it is slightly overcast,
perfect for working on my roof without cooking what little brains I have left.
Of course, I have a 12 o'clock appointment elsewhere, so that screws that up.
I will try to get back and continue till dark.Albertaflatbed Thanks this. -
Roof and siding material will be delivered within 5 days.
I have a Lull 4X4 tele-handler forklift to offload the 30 foot sheets for the roof.
I guess they'll probably stack the 18 ft.vertical wall panels on top of them,
so I'd better call them in the morning for them to make 2 separate lifts,
that way I can set the roof panels up on top of the roof bar joists,
and set the walls over on the side of the building.AModelCat and Albertaflatbed Thank this. -
I got all my materials for the roof and siding delivered today.
Gave them my debit card info, and went on with my day.
Got a call around 2 hrs.later that my card was declined??
Balance was way more than delivery, so I called the bank.
"Amount was over my daily limit."
Excuse me;
you are going to tell me how much of my money I can spend???
Fix it,
these people already delivered the product.
So they raised my daily limit.
In what world does that make any sense?
If I want to take out all my money and burn it, it's mine.Lav-25 Thanks this. -
So tomorrow there will be a crew of 6 guys and the boss here
to do my siding and roof. I hope it goes up without a hitch.
Cleaned up around the exterior, and welded up several messed up places.
Tired of this already, just wish it was over. I bought a sandblasting cabinet
and a Stanley Vidmar cabinet that I have no room for. I have to move stuff
around to fit them in. Also haven't installed my 20' chain hoist w/track yet.
Thats in the front bay, so you can back up to it and unload anything easy.
Another new buy is a vertical band saw with a blade welder on it.
And I replaced my Karcher steam cleaner w/identical one that burned. -
But when you haven't gotten to that limit and have to call , then it gets annoying as hell. ( had that issue before )rolls canardly Thanks this. -
yeah, I get that is their intent, but to limit me to $10,000 does nothing.
So it's OK to steal $10,000 but not $12,000? Makes no sense.
I bumped up my checking balance to cover several large purchases
with my debit card. "Card declined" makes you look like a loser.
The bank should clearly state "Over daily withdrawal limit"
to the vendor, not "Card declined."
Just pisses me off, like most things nowadays.
My phone number is all over everything banking related.
Bank should send me a code to my phone, I have to send it back,
as authorization to withdraw the funds. Simple verification.
I've had to do that with my Google account.
At least I know one person is reading this crap on my garage.
