LS pays 73% plus 1% for each axle over 5, whether the axle is used or not. So a 7 axle set up gets 75% even if there's only 5 axles on the ground.

Ugh. I can only imagine running up 68 and 70 with that load. Makes for one really looooooong day.

Pennsylvania routed me across 70 to US30 back to 70 once with 98000. I couldn't believe it. Thought for sure my engine was going to blow up. Dropping the gears to keep from over revving and it seemed as if the jake just screamed for hours at a time. Get to the top of a mountain, pull off, let her cool down, and the 3 miles of traffic behind clear out, then start down. I guess they did that because of the construction on 68. What a nightmare!

Except for 95, there's no easy way to get to Baltimore.

I have never been across 68/70 but I have heard plenty about it. Our only other alternative would be to come down from 80 on 322 and through Harrisburg. Most of our guys prefer 68, plus the Harrisburg curfew can really screw you this time of year.

Maryland has been a major problem this winter. We keep hitting snow emergencies, and they have been slow to lift them. The interstates could be clear, but they won't lift them and some counties don't make exceptions for the interstate. Everyone on my crew is ready for spring.

I finally got a Georgia permit. They had that 'state of emergency' stuff going on and closed their permit office until Friday. They told me that they wouldn't lift the state of emergency til Sunday.

"Does that mean that permitted loads can't be on the road?"

No one at the state level could give me an answer. Brilliant.

"Anybody tell me what the coups are doing?"

Locked up, nobody home. "10-4, outta here."

I will be happy to see springtime. Rates have been great, but the weather delays have been terrible.

Would that been legal height with a beam trailer? I see you like the bunchers

Babysteps, Cetane. I just got this trailer. I have to learn and build the HH customer base before I am ready for a beam trailer. Being 14-3 is no issue on the route we are taking.

There is nothing special about feller bunchers other than them being made close to home. We have hauled loaders, haul trucks, and excavators but I don't get to take pictures of those when they don't make it through the yard. I believe they are going to start making some bigger crawlers in DBQ before long, and I have heard rumors that high horsepower farm tractors are getting heavier.

    Cetane+ Thanks this.

Yes and with a beam you will be limited to what all you can haul.. Plate steel does not ride well on a beam.lol
Plus having the right driver using the beam can make or break you..
I have hauled a beam and it's a young mans trl. Yes I'm old and can still work one, but I prefer the flat deck more.
Running 68 across Md. is about the only and best way with oversize and yes Md. and their snow rules are a pain. Been there done that.

I hate the roller coaster, especially when you come in to town. But it's the way to go when you're OD

This week's feller headed to the Dundalk Marine Terminal. I will say that my first time across 68 was a little nerve racking. 68 was my first experience with mountains while driving OTR. On my first trip out, I thought that the long rolling hills after Dallas Pike were the "mountains".... not quite! That's what you get use to when you're used to driving around IA, IL, and IN.
