In your opinion, 2, 3, 4 years down the road what will be the resale value on trucks that were built from gliders compared to trucks that were not gliders?

Having known a guy who builds gliders it all depends on who finishes them, and the specs.
-
Well I've got an 08 paccar product (not a glider) with the dreaded cat. I've had dealers tell me that they wouldn't take my truck in trade at any price. So how's my resale value?
Most used trucks go to o/os or small companies , I feel like a good specd glider that is well maintained will hold it's value. The fly in the deal is the guberment, what will they do?? -
One has to wonder..... given the low cost of a glider (usually) compared to a new truck, and if one specs it out the way they want it, and it has a pre-egr engine which is generally more reliable.... why would anyone worry about resale? I wouldn't want to get rid of it for 10 years. By then, who cares what the resale is. If you have it spec'd properly, and those spec's are what is desirable also in the ag community, then resale is easy. That would demand a mid roof for the tallest configuration, and geared to pull grain wagons comfortably. There is always a market for a well maintained truck with good specs in the ag sector. Most of those operations don't want anything to do with the emissions stuff, and many farms will only use a truck on a sporadic basis. A good used pre-egr truck can command the best price one could hope for in that situation.
HwyPrsnr, lonelyswmtrucker, DrtyDiesel and 2 others Thank this. -
Yeah the gov't will determine the value later on. IF they stay out of the way (doubtful) i think they will hold their value quite well. At least until the emission technology gets reliable and cheap to fix.

Have to remember something, many countries do not have all this nanny government environmental regulations. You would be surprised at the volume of exported trucks that are used and no one wants here.
-
Thats why the price of used trucks are going up, we're trying to keep them here. The one's without all the garbage emissions junk anyway.
aiwiron Thanks this. -
I agree, a person could take a old rig and upgrade the entire drive train and still come out way ahead.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.
