Suthun Kooka4nia, Lakewood High School, Lakewood, latter '74, just Street Driving in high skool "training" class. Probably a National Safety thing.
School supplied automatic trans, 4 door car.
Dad had a '73 Mazda 4 speed wagon, peg leg, for "practicing" to take DMV tests.

Mr. Clutch was easy, same with Class 6, 7, 8 Trucks.
FREE Ways were easy, GOUGE On It (punch it baby) on Ramp and "blend in".......and slow down a little.
    Turn Signals were optional.......like today.

We threw all ours up in the pit with an old pick up with 3 on the tree and let them figure it out for themselves. They’re all pretty good drivers, even the ones never came around the yard or the trucks too much.

    "kids", some do, some don't.
I had an "understanding of GOING FASTER", when a helmet was optional.

Some People had/have no idea how to Ride a Big Wheel, let alone a Mini-Bike or Go-Cart.

He had a dune buggy, and then raced quarter midgets for a couple years.

Who teaches them then? You trust the school? Maybe their gym teacher? I don't have faith in them teaching math, much less driving. I've never been in a wreck, and only been pulled over once in my life. I think we'll be alright.

Where? We're near San Antonio. USAC quarter midgets. I thought about getting both kids into junior dragsters, but the oilfield took a crap, and all the fun stuff got put on hold.

Oh, I'm not looking anymore. We already did quarter midgets. If we do anything like that now, we'll build a small block and put it on the 1/4 for fun.

Oh those things are one hell of a jump from quarter midgets! A guy we raced with put his kid in sprint cars. Everything cost ten times as much!
