Got chicken lights?

My friend drives for Landstar and was told a few months ago in a safety meeting or something that non-required lights were not required to be working when it comes to CSA violations.

My uncle was the old school who said any light must work. And honestly, if you are going to have those lights, aren't you going to maintain them? That would be like the Supertruckers putting buckets of chrome on their truck and then never polishing it. Kinda pointless.
