Hail damage windshield DOT questions

    Well got caught up in a pretty good hail storm today that cracked out both windshields side bunk windows of the truck cracked all the mirrors and broke all the lights above the windshield.im on 76 heading to CO company wants me to take it to dealer 120miles away. If i drive during the day and DOT pulls me can i say im taking it to get repairs or are they just going to put me out of service and need it towed??

    Depends on the DOT officer, are you going through a scales?
    The lights themselves may well be oos violations. but if you have one working low beam, they can't park you for it.
    I have been written up for a trashed windshield. but they let me continue on. I have never been harrassed over mirrors. but do know it down right sucks to not have one, two would be worse.

    Why doesn't your company call out a mobile windshield repair truck and have it replaced, it isn't like it needs to be put in with glue, it is a rubber gasket that holds the windshield in and is a 45 minute job.

    I wouldn't drive it with no mirrors or windshield.. tell your company that it sits.. until you can actually see out of the #### thing
