Sounds like the black lady I saw today in the trk.stop. Real tail heavy. Heck you could of set a 30 cup coffee maker on that rear end. lol

Bet she doesn't need an air ride seat - she has her own built in.

if you pick up 3x4 "landscape ties" the forks will fit just fine.
the idea of welding the stakes together will work fine too

Landscape tie's will work a few times then you can burn them as they fall to pieces.

I kinda depends on what you have a the unload point, if you're unloading with forks and have something to push on the other side of the pipe while your sliding under 2x4's would work. We do that all the time, in the area of our yard where we keep the trench boxes we also have a 30' roll off scrap dumpster. If I bring in plates or boxes with no dunnage between them (which is often) I back up right beside that dumpster then when I slip my forks between I just push against it.

One place I delivered pipe to had me remove the pipe stakes before they would unload it. Pipe stakes made from channel on an aluminum trailer, they said it was better to just let the pipe go and fall on the ground if it got away as the stakes would just tear up the trailer trying to stop it.

I've seen a few trailers around with the stake pokets and rubrail all messed up so I suppose it does happen.

I found with most step decks if you load tight to the step and don't go past the first axle you will be good. If you need more space its best to split it between the top and bottom deck. That's the theory I used loading palletized stone for 6 years before I started driving.
