I currently work moving trailers around the yard and love it. I'm hoping to get my CDL - A in the spring and transfer to a different division w/the company. In the mean time I'll be reading the forums and learning as much as I can.

Sho Nuff and Chinatown Thank this.

That's good experience to have. You will be able to back circles around almost any otr driver (not that I'm slamming on them, they just don't back up as much obviously). Good luck getting your cdl and with all future endeavors. And welcome to the forum!

I do that too, though my company requires CDL-A.

I always liked Yard Jockeying. I'm actually thinking about bidding on a Jockey position at work. With the winter season coming up, it beats dealing with Northeast snow storms. And besides, our Jockey's make over $80k with minimal OT.

US Postal. It's more like $33 an hour on shift differential. OT is paid after 8, double time after 10.

You wouldn't by any chance work for a LTL company? Don't know too many companies that has Jockey's with no CDL required.

We also use to have Jockey's with no CDL's. Letter carriers would Jockey on the weekends to gain some experience if they wanted to obtain their CDL at some point. It's about as close to a training program that we had. Needless to say, they got rid of that program.
