Hi
Name is Devantai, or Tai for short. I am new to the CDL world, at the moment I drive for pepsi but was thinking about going over the road. I am single no kids and would like to travel and see new places. So far I've had swift, CR England(Ive heard really bad things)and US xpress(Leaning towards them) contact me and all seem willing to give me a spot for orientation. Anyway, any trucking advice would be great and its really nice to be apart of this forum. Thanks!

x1Heavy, Chinatown and Shock Therapy Thank this. -
You can take a look at Seagirt, Seagrams, Blue Circle etc. So many in your area. These are different kinds of trucking. There should still be Frock Brothers in Hanover at the Brickyards, DM Bowman in Williamsport and Frederick. You also have a number of trucking between you and DC, Jessup comes to mind. Go down there and walk the lot in the TA (Day time only, never at night and stay away from the fuel desk...) write down the various companies. You will have a whole list of them. Don't stay too long they might ask you questions... it's a tough place. If you want talking with drivers in there do it inside over food.
You can get your fill of trucking without having to go OTR just yet.
If you really want to go OTR go west and stay there. it gets really nice out there. -
Try some coast to coast companies since you want to see the country. Here's some that hire new cdl grads even if the websites have "experience required", so ignore that and apply.
Calex Logistics - hauls lots of loads out of California and back to the east coast. Mostly perishables; produce, frozen food, etc.
Quest Global - teams doing west coast turns.
Tyson Foods - running OTR will make about $65K.
Magnum Ltd - runs most states.
Freymiller - apply for "Restore Program". Coast to coast trucking.
Contract Freighters - www.cfidrive.com - 48 states trucking.
FFE (Frozen Food Express) - coast to coast.

Welcome to the TTR have fun.
Take everything you read with a grain of common sense salt. Good luck.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
Indeed.
Maryland is known as "Little America" have everything except diamonds which Arkansas is the only state to do so.
It's got a governor buried in Joppa since about 1630 or so, I'll have to double check that figure. Anyhow it's been around a long time. It's gotten corroded by the far left (Bless their hearts) from the days where they tend to fight against tyranny in any form. Lincoln had to actually arrest the entire Legislature, and the Baltimore Police, half sent to prison in Mass, other half held in Ft McHenry with cannon pointed at the city from Federal Hill to prevent DC from getting isolated if Maryland went south. We truly had brother against brother in 5th regiment during the Civil War among other feats in battle.
Now you on the other hand would be pleased to learn that your Arizona has had Spaniards land near what I remember as Yuma about a hundred plus years before there was even a US Colony. Ive always had good fortune in Arizona, however that one pass above Phoenix downgrade does have my name on it.. it's not something to fool with.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
