First off I want to say hello to everyone and thank you for all the great info that I have found here.
I have finally made the choice to become a professional driver, I have been a mechanic for about 10 years and worked on Heavy equipment, Class 8, and passenger vehicles for a couple years I have been unhappy with the industry and just tired of dealerships that didn't care about the customer and enough was enough,,,,so the toolbox came home.
The first part of January I started out with attending Road Master in Columbus Oh. I really wasn't to excited about paying someone to get my Class A's but I did anyway for the convenience and I can say that after my 3 weeks there I felt better about paying for the classes. The time I spent working on class 8 stuff really helped me and really didn't have a lot of issues, But for the most part the Instructors in Columbus did a great job and I noticed that if you were willing to LEARN they would do everything thing could to help you.
After Road Master I decided to give Swift a shot, I had my orientation Last week in Gary, since I'm going Flatbed. Orientation went well had to deal with the Blizzard which kind of messed things up for me since my two days of Flatbed training were canceled so as of right now I'm heading back to Gary for my two days of flatbed and then wait for a mentor.
