Hello everyone does anybody know what I can do? I worked for a trucking company that made me drive anywhere from 24-39hrs strait without being able to stop, they also had me fix the log books so that it looked like I was driving legal. I couldn't take it anymore so I quit, I can't get unemployment because I quit so I am doing odd jobs to suppliment my income, I guess my question is there anything I can do to them legaly?
    thanks

:biggrin_25510:Whoa, now, TPS417. No one MADE you drive 24-39 hours straight. You are the Captain of the ship, OK. They may tell you the loads gotta' go etc, but you tell them you'll get it there legally. Are they going to pay if you get a ticket? If you had an accident, the first thing Cops do is look at your log book. Guess what? If you're fudging, they'll lynch you right there along side the Interstate, no question asked. And you're company will suddenly disavow any knowledge of anything. This is straight talk, OK, no bull here. I've found over the years that 'hot loads' are usually dispatchs screw-up and they are dumping it in your lap and want you to perform a miracle.

I would say nothing you can do.. Like Allow Me stated you are the captian of your ship, Learn from your past and next time just try to be a little bit smarter about what you do...

Hey and Howdy! Welcome to the forum. You should be able to find some more info on some other threads here, and that should ease your mind a bit.

well there is one thing that you can do...if you know that they are "making" other drivers do the same thing you can call the state DOT and file a complaint they will have to audit...what theyll do is look at bills dates signed and all that and compare logs to that....but itll bite you in the butt also cuz like the other guys said itll come back to you not saying no i cant get it there on time legally and youll more than likely get a fine and lose your license or have it suspended....

Welcome to the forum tps417 and remember you can say no. I wouldn't put up with that kind of crap from any company. Just recently my dispachter had two loads that weren't jivin' called and said my truck doesn't have a warp drive. So they scheduled the loads different so I could deliver them safely

As has been previously stated; nobody MADE you drive those kind of hours.

I am going to make an assumption here: You knew that what they WANTED you to do was illegal.

Was that company going to pay your fine or serve your possible jail time if you got busted breaking the law?

The answer to that 2 part question is NO.

What is the name of this company?
