I have pulled vans and tanks, but have not driven over the road in quite a while (14 years), and I need some advice on how best to get back on the road. I graduated form Isothermal College driving school in 1989. Any leads as to which companies to check out will be appreciated.
Help needed to return to driving.

Man I really want to drive again too.. Worked for CRST and got screwed by them. Now I owe the student contract and no other company will touch me untill its paid.. I dont know what to do. I just need and want to drive!!!!

Shouldn't be a problem. i think all companies will you require you to go out with a trainer for at least a minimal time to refresh but you shouldn't have a problem finding employment. Good Luck
Bug Buster Thanks this. -
Good luck to you Bug Buster!!

Thanks to everyone who replied to my post about returning to driving. It is very encouraging to think that I can find a job and get back out there. I am unwilling, however, to go through an entire driving school again. I understand the need I have for refresher training on logs, etc. I just don't want to go through another driving school. I know you folks understand. Good luck and God bless all of you.

hi Bug Buster
There are many companies that have refresher training. and some my just send you with a trainer for a short time. read some threads and call some company's thats what I did. good luck and I don't think you will have any trouble finding a good job.Bug Buster Thanks this. -
I'm kind of in the same boat as you Bug Buster. I've been off the road since 2004 and haven't been OTR since '92-'93 (drove local LA dry vans for 11 years after a small stint OTR). I'm working myself back into the industry, but I have to get my CDL back (no troubles, just let it slip away thinking I had found another career). I'm preparing to go through either an 80 hour refresher or a full-blown course from SAGE through our local community college...depending on what the unemployment office wants me to do. Shooting for tankers this time around...I played the van mind game long enough I figure, lol.
Good luck in your endeavour mate! -
Thanks for the post, Burnspot - it looks as though I will be going back to engineering for at least a few weeks, but if there are no further projects for me to work on, I'll be back in the hunt for a driving job. I am glad I have kept my CDL all these years, I had a hunch I might need it again someday. I wish you well in your efforts to get back out on the big road, and the freedom it brings. I am sure you will find a good company to work for, and you are on the right track with tankers. Hook up to the customers's tank and either pump it off or air it off. No muss, no fuss. Good luck and God bless you and keep you safe.

Thanks and good luck to you! Yea, it sucks having let my CDL go when moving from state to state, but on the other hand, I know I'll need the practice school will give to get back into driving form.
