Myself I would start cheap. Physically remove all the questionable matter from anywhere you can. Don't overlook anything that the coolant passes through. Flush out all the mess you can. Reassemble, fill with water, run the engine, dump, flush, refill and repeat until you have gotten it as clean as possible.. Go to CAT and buy their cooling system flush product. It isn't the normally over priced CAT item. You may need to order it. Follow the instructions. Finally fill with good antifreeze and distilled water. I would even go so far as to dump the new coolant after a while and refill again with new coolant and distilled water.

I don't think any of the cleaners you all mentioned is enough to clean out 14 gallons of cooling system.
I go to work early in the morning before the sun comes and there's no lighting in the lot. I used to add 2 quarts occasionaly. I say USED TO.
1 morning I add what i thought was 2 quarts coolant. 2 weeks later the radiator low sensor went out. Unplugged and drove for the week. Boss bought new sensor following week. And our mechanic proceeded to change it. Only to find oil in the radiator. We carry 2 gallons on the trailer. Sometimes in refilled jugs. Usually it's new jugs. This particular jug had ATF in it. We don't usually carry ATF with us so how i ended up with ATF is beyond me.
Boss bought a solvent type cleaner. 1 gallon. It's good for 15 gallon capacity. Not the automotive stuff recommended for 6 quart capacity.
Anyways, drained coolant. Filled with water. Ran a few minutes. Drained. Fill with water and cleaner. RAn 90 minutes are prescribed. First came oil, then water. Fill with water and run a few minutes. Drain and fill with coolant.
I didn't get the name of the cleaner but it worked really good.
As for the USED TO add coolant. It's been 2 months now and haven't had to add a drop.
The truck has been notorious for cold leaks at the bottom radiator tank. New radiator was installed when trans got replaced few months back. Still had cold leaks. She no leaky for the time being.nax Thanks this. -
I"m trying to find a pic of the cleaner but google isn't showing it. I don't know if boss got the cleaner from KW or radiator shop or parts store.
