Hey everyone my name is Steven.... New here I have been kicking around the idea of hitting the road for a few months now just don't have an idea where to start. Kind of been reading what people say about different companies I have looked at and read about still don't know how I was to get my CDL either go to a school or go to the DMV. Any how that's all I have to say keep up the good work.

Tons of options to get a cdl... If you apply through your state work force office you can normally go to a driving school for free, or get a loan and most companies will reimburse you for the cost over 2 years. Some big companies have their own schools if you don't mind signing a contract. Endless options, what do you want to do with a cdl? Local vs OTR, flatbed vs van/reefer vs tanker? And another key point, where are you located?

EXOTR. I honestly want to do flat bed. But to be honest I don't know much of any of the different kinds. It might get me in trouble but ill haul whatever I can get on the back of my truck.

I'm living in Radcliff KY but in June I'm moving to Clarksville TN. And what I want out of my CDL is a career. I got out the army in 2013 applied for tons of jobs that I'm qualified for just no one is hiring and I'm sick of temp jobs and working in factories and warehouses.

I just had a son 5 months ago I need a stable job that I can start out a OTR then try to go dedicated. Also I don't want to jump from company to company. I have only been on here for a few days and from what I see stay way from CR England and swift..... but that's why I'm here I want to learn the ins and outs of what I'm getting into...

There's a good company in Hopkinsville,KY that will hire you after you get 6 - 12 months experience; "Bulkmatic." It's a great job for someone that want a big paycheck and home often.

In Tennessee, R.E. West will train you and get the CDL there and it's free with no contract to sign. You will need a TN drivers license and TN CDL permit though to qualify, but it's worth it. It's a dry van company running long haul/OTR.

I recommend doing this and after getting your CDL and 3 months or so experience, then talk to Bulkmatic about when they will let you work for them. You'll have a good career this way.
Check both websites; R.E. West and Bulkmatic.

I think R.E. West drivers make $700.00+ weekly. That's probably more than some factory/warehouse job. You'll have to ask R.E. West about that, but I think that's what's been posted by a couple of their drivers. I've talked to some Bulkmatic drivers and they said they make $60K+ yearly.
