How close do you have to be to a distribution center to be hired on?

I filled out an application recently and I believe it was 250 miles.

A recruiter for the trucking company should have that information.

Does Walmart have recruiters? Lol. I thought everyone just flocked to them and the computer algorithms weeded out the non hackers.

You must live within 250 miles on the date you start orientation.

It's my understanding that "slip-seating" is the norm for new Wal-Mart drivers....so "radius" wouldn't be an issue as much as how close I lived to a DC (where the truck will be required to park during time off). I, for one, am not interested in anything further than 30 miles (one way) commute for ANY job....and seeing as how Mt. Pleasant, IA. is the closest DC to me (over 130 miles)....I never, ever, ever once considered Wally World.

Hard to put in 14 hour days when you drive 5 or more hours to work:(

    Solution:
Either move much closer to the job, (perhaps within a 15 mile radius), or find a job much closer to home, (perhaps within a 15 mile radius), making it a trip of NO more than 30 miles round trip per day, (210 miles per week if you work all 7 days a week).

Getting less than 5 hours of sleep per night, especially for a driving job, (or any job involving the operation of dangerous machinery), is way too RISKY and DANGEROUS.
Otherwise, get temporary residence either at a friends house or a motel room that is within a 15 miles radius.

Economically speaking, excessive driving to and from a job is a LOT of wear and tear on one's car, along with a HUGE gas bill over a period of time. Oil changes and maintenance costs also add up quite rapidly.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Unless one gets on a local bid. There won't be any going home every day. Most drivers are out in the truck all week. And if they do return to the DC daily they just stay in the truck.

It would make no sense to try and go home every day if one lived more than 30-45 mins away.

The Tracy Morgan Walmart truck accident fixed Walmart from hiring drivers say 500 miles from DC and driving all day to work then getting in Walmart truck and thinking he was a good to go another 14 hours driving a truck.
